Tool 7

I found this tool very interesting and fun for the students. I would definitely have the students create many videos of their own. They can create videos of how to make a science experiment, how to solve a problem in math, acting out a story by using different voices.

Final Tool 11

1. What are your favorite tools you now have in your personal technology toolbox?

Favorite are bookmarking, digital storytelling, video resources and wiki.

Briefly describe a particular activity that you will plan for your students using at least one of these new tools. The wiki would be my very first tool I would implement. I love the idea of them working in groups and being able to edit each others work or editing spelling and new vocabulary as well sentence structure etc. I need to stop if not I will go on...
2. How have you transfomed your thinking about the learning that will take place in your classroom? I have transformed myself into a transformer. It's alot of new technology but it is very useful. And most it our children already know how to use.
3. Were there any unexpected outcomes from this program that surprised you? Honestly, yes... i was novice to some of these tools and I know i feel like a practioner.

Tool 11

In YOUR blog post, discuss at least three things you would want to make sure your students understand about being good digital citizens. Explain briefly how you would "teach" the idea of digital citizenship to your students.

1. They are 21st century learners and technology is a big part of there learning.

2. To become independent digital citizens

3. Effective digital strategies/skills

We are living in the 21st century and we need to continue looking foward and not backwards. Technology is part of our daily lives (home, work around the community)and as digital citizens we need to keep in mind that we are responsible for enhancing our learning by using an array of technology. We need to understand that not all families are able to afford such technology devices but they are available in schools and in public libraries for us to use. I would definitely emphasize that it is a learning tool for our coming future.

Tool 10

1. Discuss some of the free educational apps you revewed. Some of the free apps I reviewed were Hear Planet which is a tour of places around the world. NASA's apps are amazing. Sudoku really enhances the mind. I found these very interesting.

3.. Discuss ways your students could use the iTouch or iPad and appropriate apps in your class. I know my school Hollibrook elementary has this device in the library and I recall seeing all ofour students using it and playing fun educational games with it. It was amazing seeing them use their little finger and scroll the device to fing what they wanted to learn for that day. It's great interaction as they would share it zand help each other.

Tool 9

1. Discuss how the screencast could help your students and how you might have students use Jing.
2. Discuss how you might use Skype with your students and share across the district, the state, the nation, or the world!

1.Jinng in the classroom is a very effective way in having students restore information they have forgotten. I like the example about the librarian creating hers and having students watch it so they can be remeber what to do in the library. This is a great tool to use in the classroom by having students create their own classroom rules and viewing it weekly or create a how to video and have students follow directions so they can learn the importance of following directions and getting there goals done.

2.I am a user of skype already. I use to communicate face to face with relatives I have in Philadelphia and Florida. We love it! It's a wonderful communication device use to see each other face to face. I would definitely use skype with my students. I would use it in an author's study or when we are talking researching community helpers or heroes.

Tool 8

http://www.jpl.nasa.gov/video/index.cfm?id=827-weather climate
http://video.pbs.org/program/1073769600/ white house-president

The first video I chose is from NASA which shows a video about the climate changes. Since the science currriclum has changed this school year and studets will be exploring with experiments this video coincides with there mini weather station they will be using to understand what causes the climate changes.

The second video is from PBS which gives students an opportuity to learn about our president and the white house.Great Social Studies lesson.

Tool 6

discuss how students might use wikis to aid in their learning. Did any of the sample wikis you viewed give you any particular ideas for using a wiki in your classroom for students. How about for and your team or department?

I love this Wiki, I would defdinitely use during writers workshop when students in their groups may edit another students work. This is great to use for the traveling portfolios. I love it. Also use it with spelling words they are learning weekly. Make it a fun educational workstation.
